ORTHODONTICS

Orthodontic treatment works by using an orthodontic appliance to apply slow, continuous pressure to the teeth to align them and correct your bite. Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. At NOHO Orthodontic Studio, we offer traditional braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, InBrace lingual braces, and WildSmiles® brackets to give you the most options to meet your needs.

Orthodontic Treatment Considerations

Timing of Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that all children should have an evaluation with an orthodontist by the age of seven, regardless of how many teeth have erupted. At this visit, Dr. Balabegian will be able to predict any structural changes that may occur as your child gets older. Addressing structural changes with braces can save your child’s smile and also prevent any additional dental issues down the road.

Of course, it’s never too late for orthodontic treatment! Adults can also take advantage of the benefits of a straight, functional smile, as well as improved oral health.

Length of Treatment

Orthodontic treatment generally takes about 18-24 months. For patients who have had previous treatment and want to address teeth that have shifted out of place, it can be as short as three to six months.

Office Visits

Patients with traditional braces will need to visit our North Hollywood orthodontic office every six weeks for adjustments. Invisalign and InBrace patients come in far less often, about every ten to 12 weeks.

Is Orthodontic Treatment Right For You?

It can be hard to know if you need braces, so it’s important to see Dr. Tenny Balabegian to help you determine if you are a candidate. Sometimes misalignment can be obvious, like significant crowding or spacing. Other times teeth can look straight, but the bite can be off causing significant trauma to the teeth. Consultations at our North Hollywood, CA orthodontic office are complimentary—it’s always best to get an expert opinion when it comes to your smile!

Orthodontics for Children

Orthodontic treatment can be a crucial part of your child's oral health care. Teeth that work together make it possible to bite and chew properly. The beautiful smile that results from child orthodontic treatment is the outward sign of good oral health, and sets the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth.
